Internal Controls Manager at Vetopia
Vetopia | Hellerup, Denmark
Vetopia is looking for an Internal Controls Manager to help strengthen and develop the group’s internal control environment across a growing European veterinary platform.
Vetopia is one of Europe’s leading veterinary groups, with +250 clinics across nine countries. The company is owned by Axcel and built on strong clinical care, local autonomy, and close collaboration with veterinary professionals.
The role
As Internal Controls Manager, you will be responsible for developing and embedding a practical internal control framework across the group.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Develop the group’s internal control framework
- Identify key risks and define relevant controls
- Support local implementation and follow-up
- Monitor performance and gaps
- Help strengthen processes, governance, and documentation
- Embed relevant systems and tools to support the control setup
- Support selected reporting and compliance-related activities, e.g., ESG
What we are looking for
We are looking for a structured and dependable controls professional who understands how to make frameworks work in practice.
You likely bring:
- Experience with internal controls, risk, audit, and/or compliance, e.g., from audit, consultancies or an in-house function
- Strong understanding of control design and follow-up
- Ability to work across entities, functions, and countries
- A structured approach to risk assessment and documentation
- Confidence in engaging stakeholders
- Familiarity with control/GRC tools and ESG reporting is a plus, but not a requirement
Who succeeds in the role
This role suits someone who is pragmatic, persistent, and detail-oriented. You know that strong controls are not just about frameworks, but about making them clear, relevant, and consistently applied in the business.
You take ownership naturally, communicate clearly, and enjoy building structure across the organization.
Why join Vetopia?
You will join an ambitious and international group with a down-to-earth culture, talented colleagues, and short decision paths. Vetopia combines local autonomy with the benefits of being part of a larger European platform.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of an important group function and help shape a practical, scalable control environment.
